Abstract More than half-century long process of reconciliation between Poland and Germany can be recognized as one the most exceptional contemporary examples of the rebuilding of relations both socially and politically. The fact that the reconciliation process between “eternal enemies”, Poland and Germany, succeeded is considered in metaphysical categories a ‘miracle of reconciliation’. The title of the study covers both instances of Tadeusz Różewicz’s literary output, which are present within the circle of the German language (the art of translation) and the forms of the presences of the German literature and culture in the author’s own texts, metatexts, self-commentaries. Artykuł jest próbą naświetlenia zagadnienia rozwoju kultury pamięci mniejszości niemieckiej na Górnym Śląsku po 1989 r., zamieszkującej obszar polsko-czeskoniemieckiego pogranicza kulturowego. Opinie o generale Wojciechu Jaruzelskim uzależnione są od stosunku zainteresowanych do wydarzeń z lat osiemdziesiątych XX w., a szczególnie do okoliczności wprowadzenia i przebiegu stanu wojennego. Wiele ocen pozostaje do dnia dzisiejszego niedostępnych dla opinii publicznej. The main themes of this article are connected with reading the prose of Stefan Chwin: Kartki z dziennika [Pages of a diary] (2004) and Dziennik dla dorosłych [A diary for adults] (2008), which selected and translated by Marta Kijowska came out in Berlin, under the title: Ein deutsches Tagebuch. The weekly Die Zeit placed it on the list of the ten best books of 2015. In the context of this distinction, reading Chwin’s diaries becomes a unique putting values to test, a discovery of the significance of the author’s voice in discussions about the condition of modem world and contemporary human being.
